For the third quarter, I have taken interest in the projects of Reflection, Tilt-Shift, Motion Blur, and Depth of Field.
I want to do Reflection because I have already started seeing multiple photos I can take and also scenes that I can create to make reflections! I've always been interested in taking reflection photos and I'm pretty sure this is the project I would like to begin the third quarter with. I have already started taking reflection pictures and creating a game plan for the rest of my photos for this project. Mr. Kraus has interested me in an artist named Audrey Flack and her work has inspired me to do possibly a wide shot of a messy dresser. Then, I plan on focusing in on different reflective objects on my messy dresser for my other photos. Another idea I have been intrigued on is making every day items look so much 'bigger' and relatable than they seem. Also, Mr. Kraus has also interested me in possibly making the wide shot a shot of my purse with all of the small objects I plan on photographing in it!
The next project I am interested in taking on is Tilt-Shift. Tilt-shift seems like a way of manipulating the photo to make it seem almost fake and a little childish. I am excited to start this project because of the other artists and students photos I have seen recently have sparked multiple ideas of what I want to do for this project. I want to most likely shoot pictures of the mall, streets with cars and people, the sky with airplanes passing by, or many other things. This project interests me because its putting a playful idea on the concept of a normal, everyday scene!
Motion Blur! I am so excited to start this project! It's almost like making a purposeful accident in a picture. I still have no idea what I want to photograph for this project. Motion blur intrigues me, but I see that almost everyone who has previously done the project has used street lights, cars, and highways; I want to do something different. I'm thinking about doing something with Christmas lights, lamps, things in the home. I can not wait to start this project, I think this will definitely test my creativity as a photographer!
Depth of Field. This project sort of scares me, but I really was inspired by other students' work. There were some really creative ideas in previous students' projects in this area. Depth of field would be a challenge for my creativity and camera smarts. I'm interested in doing this project this quarter because I want to capture images that will have multiple meanings within what is in the foreground and background. I am thinking about doing something with song lyrics written on very different things in the foreground, not just paper, and then maybe something that relates to the lyrics in the background.
I am very excited to dive into this class and hopefully think of myself as a photographer in the future!
